I would be lying if I said I am not looking forward to watching the Washington Capitals play tonight. As I have previously written, I am a die-hard Capitals fan and this series has had the intensity that I love about the NHL Playoffs. Following the ruling from the NHL’s Department of Player Safety (DoPS) I, like just about every other fan of this team, have a fire lit due to the ruling on F Tom Wilson.
The Capitals lead the series with the Penguins 2-1 right now and I am willing to bet have even more motivation to continue winning. I am absolutely bewildered by the ruling by the DoPS because of how the events have unfolded. The hit on the ice led to the stoppage in the game, followed by a ruling from the league offices that the hit was legal – in real time! How can the league have come back and changed their minds that way? I am not genuinely a conspiracy theorist at any level, but something is not sitting right with me on this one. The result of the action should not determine the legality of the action.
I am looking forward to seeing how the team responds tonight and will be there watching at 7!
